Dr Matt Thomas

Dr Matt Thomas (PhD) is a Clinical Psychologist working with Marathon Health in Bathurst, NSW in the role of Principal Practice Lead. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the School of Psychiatry and Mental Health at UNSW and the School of Psychology at Charles Sturt University. He is an experienced clinical and research supervisor.

Matt has specialised in cognitive assessment and cognitive remediation therapy with adults with acquired brain injury and severe mental illness. He led the trial implementation of CIRCuiTS cognitive remediation therapy at Bloomfield hospital in Orange, with an NSW Ministry of Health Translational Research Grants Scheme (Round1) research grant.

Matt is a chief investigator and clinical supervisor on a project focussed on the implementation of cognitive remediation therapy for adults with severe mental illness across sites in NSW and QLD. This research is supported by a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) rapid translational research grant and is being conducted by a research team lead by Professor Julaine Allan at CSU’s Rural Health Research Institute in Orange, NSW.
